My third music video is Paramore: Playing God
The song was released on 15th November 2010 as a new single on Paramore's new album 'Brand New Eyes'.
It is said that the song is based on people who have issues with faith.
The video is supposed to be a sequel to the bands previous music video 'ignorance'. As she is getting revenge on her band mates the same they did to her a long time ago. The video was completely filmed in the home of the bands lead singer Hayley Williams.
The bands current members up until recently are-
Hayley Williams
Jeremy Davis
Taylor York
This occurred when brothers who started the band (Josh and Zac Farro) left the band after a feud over Hayley hogging all the attention.
Hayley williams was born in Tennessee and lived there until the age of 13 which is when she moved to Mississippi after the divorce of her parents, in missippi in her new school is where she met Josh and Zac Farro. When 14, Hayley was signed onto a 2 year production Deal.

History of the music video
Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody- (1975) Was considered to be the first ever music video released. Although there is still footage of old bands performing, they were still not considered to be music videos.
The first ever music video to be shown on MTV was 'Buggles: Video killed the radio star' which was released in 1979. From then on MTV started playing more music videos and were from then on known for playing the well known songs on video.
The genre's of music changed from the 1970's to todays date. The most popular genre of music has always been pop up until this date, this is then followed by Rock music, Country music, hip hop music and finally the Instrumental Music. Most music videos up until this date have all been of a performance type style as they all involve the artist in the video singing the words to the song. Although, there have been many music videos using animation as a way to get the point of the song across.

My second music video is Katy Perry: Hot N Cold
The song was released on Katy Perry's major mainstream debut album ,One of the boys, as the second single of the album.
Katheryn Elizabeth 'Katy' Hudson was born in Santa Barbara, California. Having very little exposure to mainstream pop music in her childhood, she perused a career in gospel music in her teens.
The release of her video stunned her family, this is because both her parents were pastors meaning that she came from a very strict christian family.
The video was recorded in December 2007 and was released in September 2008. The music video is based on the lyrics as a woman is waiting for her fiancee to say i do at the alter, until he runs off and she sings about his bipolar mood swings. The video was initially filmed in First Christian Church of North Hollywood.

Male Gaze
The male gaze refers to the ways in which the audience views the people presented.
Features of The Male Gaze involves the camera lingering on the curves of the female body, anything that happens to a woman is presented largely to the mans reactions to the event, the women are made to be seen as an object or possession, the female viewers must experience the narrative secondarily by identification with the male. The gaze suggests that woman are weak and defenseless.
There are three parts to the male gaze;
Men looking at women- Men tend to look at the 'curvy parts' of women. Like the idea of men don't tend to look at women in the eyes, but at the other parts of their bodies. (Cameras tend to focus on women's bodies rather than their faces)
Women looking at themselves- Women are made to look at themselves in a negative way, picking faults with parts of their appearance when they see how women looking in the media; when they have been airbrushed. It triggers a lack of self esteem and women become more reflective.
Women looking at women- Women judge and compare themselves to other girls.
In the music videos I have analysed, the women are not dressed in very much. For example, in Katy Perry's music video to 'Hot n Cold' she starts off by wearing a full length wedding dress, the video then goes on to show Katy rip off the bottom of her wedding dress to reveal her wearing a leotard. In parts of the video we are only shown Katy's legs meaning that the director is only focusing on the legs instead of a full length body shot.

Music video research
My first music video is Blink 182: All the small things
The video was released in 1999 on the bands third album Enema Of The State.
Mark Hoppus- Base guitar, Vocals
Tom Delonge- Guitar, Vocals
Travis Barker- Drums, Percussion
All the boys in the band were born in different parts of california. Mark Hoppus came from a dysfunctional family background as his parents divorced when he was in the third grade. Tom Delonge was expelled from his high school for drinking at a basketball game. He then attended Rancho Bernado High School where he met a girl who then introduced him to her brother ( Mark Hoppus).
Travis Barker was touring with Blink182 with his former band The Aquabats, This is when Blink182's former member Scott Raynor was fired from the band for having a drinking problem. The band then enlisted Barker to fill in for Raynor and he learnt all the bands 20track drum music in 45minutes and then went on to perform with the band with no rehersal, Barker then went on to play with the band throughout their summer tour dates.
The band are owned by the record label MCA.
MCA is a media company, initially starting in the music business, they became a dominant force in the film business and later expanded into the television business.
The main idea of the video is a parody of boy bands and contemporary pop videos. It features the band doing parodies of popular bands such as the back-street boys and 98 degrees. The music video was shot in August 1999 located in Van Nuys Airport and Santa Monica State Beach.
